Hey Blorp! Today I'm trying a new way to understand math
Math has always been pretty abstract to me because the logic doesn't feel innately logical. The way I was taught it was built for people who don't think the way I do. And don't get me wrong, I could just choose to accept that schools have standardized ways of teaching where one lesson plan is meant to fit all. I could just choose to use my delicious neuroplasticity to adapt for a system that was built without me in mind, but... it's boooorrrriiinnngggggg and soooooo much work :(
SO! We are gunna do something a lot more fun. After reading a few articles, I discovered a new way out. And we are gunna try it!
List of the articles I read:
https://betterexplained.com/articles/how-to-develop-a-mindset-for-math/
https://betterexplained.com/articles/developing-your-intuition-for-math/
Side note: this dude (I think his name is Kalid Azad?) has a whole cheatsheet for mathematical concepts explained intuitively. He is so cool.
"Why do this? If you hate math so much, why not just admit that you don't have that strength?" I hear you ask. Actually I didn't literally hear you ask that, Blorp. I just... had no way to transition to my reasoning behind this.
- Mental endurance. #nevergiveup #riseandgrind #Ilovecapitalism #meritocracy #isitamyth? #waitaminute...
- I don't want to be good at only one thing. That's kind of sad... I wanna be a well rounded person.
- Taxes. I think. Will I need to know calculus for my taxes? I don't know, but I know there will be several points in my life where I will be tested on my mathematic intuition. So. I should have it.
- The perfectionist inside my brain demands that I get something above a 1500 on my SAT, despite being terrible at math my entire life.
The same dude who wrote all the article's I talked about also wrote out this list to check his understanding.
So, uh. I'm, gunna start using this to understand the concepts that I memorized before. Yippie. I'll let you know how it goes!
